Lazy Muthas (& Fathers)

We have begun one of our biggest spring jobs today, re-opening 5 flats ready for the holiday season.
Our afternoon has been spent cleaning windows, hanging curtains & checking inventories.
It usually takes us a couple of weeks to get them all prepared, so we'll be back there tomorrow.

We do work really hard & when not working - we are incredibly lazy...
Sometimes we think it would be so nice to have a housekeeper. Well more of a friend, who would happily care for us - prepare meals when we are working, clean the house, chivvy the kids along.
Maybe it would be more of a lodger that could live with us for free in return for their help.
Is there anyone out there?

Occasionally, we feel guilty about not getting things done, but most of the time - we just think why should we make ourselves unhappy constantly doing, when it's more fun just being...
We would rather lie in bed chatting & laughing for hours on end, than clean the house or wash the car. Those jobs will always be there, but life's too short to not include some enjoyable lazy days...
And we certainly know how to be lazy & love every minute!

It's a funny time, when your kids have grown & they no longer need your support.
Hugo is probably quite mature at 14, he likes his own space & enjoys a lot more freedom than most kids his age. He makes himself meals during the day, but then we eat together in the evening.
Sime & I are left to do our own thing most of the time & as much as we love our kids - it's really nice to have time to ourselves, to choose what we want to do, go where we want to go - without any compromise... Luckily, we're not like a couple we used to know - who in their early forties, would go out without their kids to a pub for the evening & not know what to say to each other. They would sit in awkward silence until time to head home. Isn't that sad? Surely the whole point of being with a partner, is that you want to be with them. Why would anyone want to spend their life with someone they can't talk to?

I suppose we are just fortunate that we enjoy each other's company, we are best friends as well as partners, we share interests, a similar sense of humour & find something to laugh at every day, we are always grateful for everything we have in our lives, even small things.
It's so important to have lots of fun & I don't think we'll ever grow up - thank goodness!!!

Anyway, back to today & on our way home from work...

Horses were waiting to greet us...

This is up the lane & around the corner from our house!

  1. Alright, Kay...when do I move in? :) Well, I gotta say, I agree with you on all of your views. Being friends in a relationship is so important to me and I'm blessed in that regard. Although I work hard, I can do a pretty good laze about :) Balance is important! Have a wonderful evening, you two...and don't forget to collect me at the airport! ;)

  2. Thank goodness for laughter a family that plays together stays together - and hey muthas and fathers should be best friends too. Not all parents accomplish that finely tuned balance but those that do reap far more from their offspring a special bond that lasts for life. Don't apologise for growing old disgracefully or for lazing and having quality time together. What matters is that you do find time and it is serious quality timea and that it works and it suits you both and your family. Life is not a rehearsal and we are not all clones - and what suits one doesn't necessarily suit another. So the word "normal" to me is something of a misnomer as what is normal to one person need not be normal to another. Just go for it - it obviously works as your happiness spills out through your blog. That is a life lesson you have passed on to your young people that is precious. Just be you laugh love and be happy. Take care
