Earth Hour 2012 At Cotna

Last night we had a transition group get-together for Earth Hour.
As always this took place at Cotna...

Sara & Dave's polytunnels, wind turbine & solar panels...

Their house is a beautiful eco-build & they also have a straw bale barn which is a holiday let & accommodation for WWOOFers who help out on the land.

The track down to the bonfire was lit with tealights in paper bags...

We fell in love with this yurt...

And more importantly - the food...

Such a great feast again...

Dave's wonderful cider...


It was a great evening catching up with everyone...

Even Ziggy joined in...

And we didn't get home until 1am...

Hope you all managed to do something nice too - would love to know what everyone else got up to...

    Oh, how magical. I love the yurts too!

    Have you ever stayed in one? I would love too!

    The food looks delicious and I wouldn't mind a half of that cider. A half is probably all it would take! LOL!

      Thanks Sft - I was a lovely evening & the cider was delicious! We've never stayed in a yurt, though we did own a tipi some years ago!

    I love the yurt too! I always think my ancestors must have been Mongols, as I would love the nomadic lifestyle, riding ponies across the plains, erecting the Gurr and cooking on a little stove.

    Oh how great to see the inside of a yurt. We saw them at South Penquite and we like the idea of staying in one. It looks like you had a fab evening!

    I think I want to stay in a yurt. I was planning to observe earth hour, but by 8.30pm we were all in bed asleep - lights out. We were shattered from a very busy week, particularly Saturday x We know how to live!!

      Becky - I love having early nights... When the kids were little we used to follow them to bed, we had to as they'd wake early every morning. It's a lovely luxury now having a lie-in!

    That place looks magical, I could enjoy a holiday there no problem.I have been thinking of doing some WWOOFING in the next few years, I had been thinking of some of the less inhabited Scottish Islands I'd been reading about.
    Earth hour here was scrabble and supper by candlelight then early bedtime :)

    We used to be in WWOOF as volunteers for years & then as hosts at our previous house. There's a home educating family who's blog we follow - Wandering Wonderers & they are about to move to Rum after a year of travelling around the UK WWOOFing. You'll be able to find them in our sidebar, but they will definitely be needing some help to get their croft up & running & they'll also be very knowledgeable about where to WWOOF!

Some of you know about my fight with Graves Disease, an auto immune system disorder, which causes an overactive thyroid. Since I was diagnosed 7 years ago, I have made it my business to know everything I possibly could about the condition & this has probably saved my life. Our Neighbours

The ladies next door have been giving birth in the field. Their babies are like any other babies - they sleep, they feed, they follow their mums everywhere, they run around, then fall asleep again.  These little beauties are completely unaware of their fate... But we know... And this is one thing which makes living here difficult. How can people eat other beings without feeling terrible?     It just doesn't make sense. Our garden yesterday.
