Another Crazy Week

Every year it seems to come as a shock just how busy we get in August.
We are working incredibly long hours...

Holiday home owners are heading down & all the properties we take of are full.
So there's lots of cleaning to be done, things to fix & guests (not all nice either) to deal with.
We are getting very tired, but happy to see money coming in...

Occasionally, we get time to pop home for lunch between jobs.
(Kitties like us being home)
All our work is very close to where we live, so the furthest we travel is just over 2 miles!

Sime's colourful lunch...

On the days we don't manage to get home - we still have a break...
And eat lots of fruit & nuts.

This week started out lovely & hot, although the sea was really choppy...
Portmellon - we seem to spend more time down there, than at home!

Portmellon at night...

The Donks
We stopped for a chat with their human friends after work...

They are all wearing some fancy headgear to stop the flies from irritating their eyes...

Sime's old band...
We've been meaning to catch up with them for ages, so we had a lovely evening!

Another of Sime's foodie faces...

On Tuesday we saw Nowhere Island from a distance...
We had planned to visit it in Mevagissey on Wednesday, but it had to leave due to stormy weather coming in.
Amazingly, we were working at a house by the sea, as it went past!

Apparently, if you register as a citizen of the island - you will be sent a piece of it eventually!
Don't think we'll bother...

Chapel Point

In the grounds of another cleaning job...

It feels like an island...

The Grandchildren of the owners spotted something in the sea...

So we investigated...

So sad - a dead female basking shark.
The coastguard think she was probably caught up in trawler nets.

The photo isn't very clear, but she was beautiful - as we left the slipway seagulls began to gather ready for their feast...

Another work view.
Unfortunately, you can't see how torrential it was...

Lots of these little chaps around now...

Only 2 more weeks of this craziness & then we get to take a little break...

Can't wait!

Have a good weekend.

  3. So sad about the shark, especially since it was humans carelessness that killed her. :(

That's genius with the donkeys, to help with the flies! Love the foodie face that Sime made. So cool!

    1. There was also a 60ft long whale washed up on a beach nearby just the day before... Just terrible & shocking. But we also heard about a healthy pod of dolphins swimming into Portmellon bay yesterday & we missed them!
