St Anthony Head

We live at the top of The Roseland - a forked peninsula jutting out into the sea.
It has lots of little creeks, where folks with lots of money live...

This is Place House in Place...

Next to Place House...

From Place you can take a foot passenger ferry to St Mawes...
Which one day we must do!

Instead we parked up on St Anthony Head, ate our picnic & enjoyed a fantastic walk...

St Anthony's lighthouse was at the start of our walk...

Views from the South West Coast Path...

The sea looked gorgeous...

With unspoilt beaches...

And exciting little bridges...

Looking back at the lighthouse...

It's hard to believe how hot it got - when it's so wet & miserable today...

St Mawes Castle over the other side...

We eventually went into a lovely, cool woodland...

Past the bee hives...

And into a church...

A church which no longer has a congregation...

Back into the heat...

Through the overgrown churchyard...

And a medieval tomb...

We were doing a circular walk & the lane back up to the top was very exposed...

There were lots of these tubs in fields, but we have no idea what they were for...
Does anyone know?

Nearly back to the beginning...

At the car park there is a cafe & as we had ran out of water a while back, we were ready for a drink...
And of course, something to eat.
We looked at the menu, saw there was nothing really suitable - but asked if we could just have a bread roll each with some salad. They said no... They had run out of salad!
We won't be going back - that's for sure...

This little chap enjoyed eating off other tables...

And we got very burnt!

A brilliant day & now only a week until we get to have a few days off!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. It all looks so wonderful and that sea is so BLUE!

I was thinking about the tubs. When we lived near a big estate, they had grain in containers like that for the game birds to peck at. Once they got released from the rearing pens, they would still get supplementary feed.

That was a disappointment about the pub food. I must say I am having a lot of trouble finding something suitable when eating out. I shall be going to a barn dance with fish and chip supper next weekend, I will be taking my own picnic LOL
