Weekend

Friday night, instead of leaving Hugo to make his own way home - we decided to pick him up from a circus event at Falmouth University.
We were all hungry & thought it would just take too long to cook anything by the time we got home, so we  popped into Falmouth for a bite to eat...
As we walked into the Gurkha restaurant, we discussed contacting the girls - but thought it would be too short notice...
Sime said wouldn't it be funny if they were already in there & guess what?

A lovely little face was peering from a behind a partition... It was Sal!
She thought she'd heard us talking, so what a great surprise... She & Ryan had just arrived themselves.
Sal got in touch with Rose & Asa, but they were just about to eat at home...

Sal & Ryan had a veggie thali...

Hugo & I had vegan bhuna...

And Sime had a vegan dhansak.

Lovely kidlets...

And lovely chap...

Yesterday, we had to work - the weather was amazing...

The field at the top of our lane, the clouds were dense & very dark over St Austell...

A rainbow in Portmellon Bay...

We could see the rain in the distance...

On our way home, the dark clouds looked like a storm was brewing...

Neighbours across from us decided to let off fireworks last night - they hadn't bothered to tell the rest of us.
The kitties were totally freaked out, they have never experienced them before. Flea ran off, but came back after another neighbour asked for the fireworks to stop & Boswinger became it's usual peaceful place.
They know we have cats, so could have given us a knock...

This morning, Flea enjoying the sunlight through the shutters...

Sime reading yesterday's news...

Reluctant to let go of my beautiful sunflowers...

Rose & Asa bought them for me when I was in hospital...

Lupin enjoying a sneaky doze on the table...

Beautiful boy...

Both boys love the woodburner...

And we just love being at home...

Hope you're all having a peaceful weekend!

Rural Life

We live in a small hamlet of 14 households - all on one lane, but spread out & mainly detached, apart from the 3 barn conversions across from us. There have been a number of changes in the six years we have lived here, people moving in & out, houses renovated & extended, but for us - the worst thing is that the last few newcomers are city people. They have all spent thousands of pounds modernising their homes & turning them into fortresses. Fences & gates have been erected, security lights & alarms fitted...
I suppose most folks will think that they are being sensible, but it's changing the way our little place looks & feels & to me it seems that these modern extras will invite unwanted attention - it suggests there's something worth taking. What was once a simple, quaint little hamlet is fast becoming yet another exclusive part of rural Cornwall.  Only 3 of the 14 households are Cornish & they are all related, the rest (apart from us) are well …

Just A Quickie

We got back in the early hours of yesterday, worked & we're working again until Wednesday. When we'll have a day off to be volunteers at Hugo's home education group...
We had a very productive time in Stoke, got lots sorted again around Bebe & had great fun with her during a meal out... We also saw Grandad Gerry & Nana Footstep (Sime's Dad & Step-Mum), which is always lovely!
I had a tooth out - the tooth I had filled a couple of months ago...  Apparently, the filling had been put directly on to the nerve of the tooth, so no wonder I'd been suffering (my jaw has had a dull ache for a while & my tooth was very sensitive to cold drinks & food). The filling hadn't set underneath, so this dentist said he wasn't surprised that I'd had a metallic taste in my mouth. The guy was lovely, he was very patient with my stupid behaviour & Sime was with me throughout holding my trembling hand!
We had a bit of free time too - saw a film & on …
