Garden Musings and The Power Of Juice

Last weekend we needed to catch up on some sleep, too many late nights took their toll & we were grateful to not be caring for Bebe - relishing the opportunity to lie in bed until the afternoon for 3 days on the trot... Such a treat! We've enjoyed sharing our home with 2 lots of friends (something we had to put on hold while Bebe was here), so it's been really lovely.  We've also had some exceptionally tough work days, but continue to be supported by our fresh juices. We just have one for lunch & love the natural lift it gives us, yesterday - we cleaned the big holiday home we look after non-stop for over 7 hours. Admittedly, we were knackered at the end, but we did the work of 4 people on our usual breakfast of super food porridge, then green juice followed by a banana for lunch. We'd taken extra food to eat too, as we knew it was going to be a hard day, but we didn't have time for anything else. After a good night's sleep, we have felt reju

Fleaby's Easy Listening Gems Part 1

Flea, much to Sime's disappointment, never really embraced the music genre associated with his namesake & although he often gets into scrapes & scraps... He's really a big softy, especially where music's concerned.  Here's some of his favourite tunes: He hopes you enjoy the videos as much as he does!

Juicy Goodness

We've been juicing every day & are enjoying the benefits of raw food. Here's what we've been having so far... Pineapple, apple, celery, purple sprouting, orange, lemon  & basil. Beetroot, apples, clementines & turmeric. Carrots, apples, celery, cucumber, lemon & turmeric. Spinach, pineapple, apples, pak choi, cucumber, lemon, coriander & ginger. Spinach, celery, courgettes, cucumber, pineapple, apples & lemon. Wonderful stuff! We are eating pretty much the same every day - porridge for breakfast, then a juice with fruit & nuts for lunch & a cooked dinner each evening. We are feeling really good for it too! Kay & Sime  xx

Green Zing

We made this juice this morning & took it out packed in ice to have between jobs... It gave us a great energy boost! We used: 4 apples, 1/2 pineapple, half a lemon, 1 inch knob of ginger, half a cucumber, 4 sticks of celery & several leaves of pak choi. This made 1 litre of juice & it tasted like a zingy sherbet! Fat, Sick And Nearly Dead

Have you seen this inspirational film? If you can't see the film above try this link:  Fat, Sick And Nearly Dead . We often go through phases of juicing & love them - the greener, the better!  This film is proof again that our food choices really do make a difference to our health. Now the weather is picking up - it's a good time to reboot, so we'll be dusting off the juicer & giving ourselves a spring clean. Watch this space for some our favourite juice recipes. Kay & Sime xx

Roasted Vegetable and Butter Bean Soup

Soup is a great way to use up leftover veggies from our veg box. And when we want to keep things simple - we stick it all in the oven to roast... Today's includes a whole squash, a bulb of garlic, carrots, leeks & ginger. We then blended it with 2 teaspoons of smoked paprika, a sprinkle of black pepper, a handful of fresh parsley & a dollop of  miso dissolved in a jug of hot water.  We then added a tin of butter beans & warmed it all through. Delicious! Kay & Sime xx
