What Do You See?

Image
"Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts." ~ Rachel Carson ~ Isn't it beautiful how nature has a desire to cover up abandoned human junk? All our stuff lying around roadsides, in driveways, gardens and waste ground slowly being absorbed by nature. We find it fascinating and although it's sad to see so much discarded stuff around, we love how nature always fights back. Luckily, we both share similar views as to what we consider to be beautiful because otherwise, we probably wouldn't have our little house. It needs lots of TLC and was so overgrown when we first saw it - as it was again this visit, but we both absolutely love it and don't see it like others do...our new neighbours think we are crazy to have bought the house, although it's more the size which makes them laugh rather than the condition.  We think it's rather sad that so many folks don't

How To Build Community

Image
It's been over 8 months since we moved to this fabulous place and we are continually amazed by the wonderful people who come along and share our space. We absolutely love the sense of community and being around such thoughtful, creative people. We've spent lots of time outside...  And helping to make shared meals... We have made many new friends...   Had the kidlets visit... And enjoyed time with all the furry friends... Flea and Lupe have settled in and got used to the other animals being around, though we doubt they'll ever make friends with any of them... Ziggy  Team Cotna Outdoor farm kitties. Life is good and we are so happy and grateful to be here. Kay and Sime xx

Preparing For Our Next Adventure

Image
Here are some photos of the barn we are moving into at the weekend. We will be sharing the main barn with folks on working holidays. The view from the barn across the land. The barn is made from straw bales. The end of the main barn and the smaller attached barn used for holiday lets/retreats. The outdoor solar shower. The compost loos. One end of the main barn with our bedroom on the right. The other end of the barn -  with kitchen, dining and living space... And this wonderful large stove which is perfect for us. We are very excited to be on the moving on to a new adventure and closing the door to the little house by the sea. Love Kay and Sime xx

A Year Of Wonder

What an incredible year we have had... We downsized to spend 12 months in a sweet little house with the most stunning views of the sea. We were treated to an amazing holiday in Canada, thanks to our kind and beautiful friend Richard... It was fantastic to spend time with Richard and his fabulous family...  We adore them all very much and will always be grateful to him for his incredible generosity! We had lots of new work opportunities come our way, which have kept us extremely busy and have enabled us to continue living here - The price for a bit of luxury! We now work in more stunning properties and we also spent the summer season at the youth hostel with a lovely team... All the kidlets are happy living their alternative lives...  2 of them own a caravan, 2 of them live in that caravan, 2 of them gave up their flat to do a long term house sit and all of them have exciting plans ahead. We have come to realise that for us, our
