Slow Travel

All you need is the plan, the road map and the courage to press on to your destination.
~ Earl Nightingale

We are pretty sure that we have covered this subject before...
We absolutely love road trips and they start as soon as we close the door at home.
We focus on the journey, rather than the destination.

Sometimes the journey turns out to be completely different than we expected, but it never matters.
What is important to us is that we enjoy it.
Being on the road lights us both up - the amazing places we come across and the people we meet, the new friends and connections we make - it's all wonderful.
Even when we set out to explore a place only to discover that we have been there before, which seems to happen a lot lately...Hahaha!!!

It makes us sad that most people are so keen to get to their destination as quickly as possible, they miss out on so much.
Folks who drive long hours don't seem to think of their journey as part of their trip, it's something to get out of the way before they can concentrate on having fun.

We say slow down and enjoy your journeys, because it is during them that the adventures really happen.

And the same can be said of life too!

Top Of The World

It's my lovely wife's 45th birthday today and it's great to see her having such a nice time.  We had a bit of a lie-in, then Kay said that she'd like to go to the new Eden Project Cafe in St. Austell for breakfast.
Having dined there recently, we were aware of their "Book Swap" area.  Choose a book from home you wish to donate, write a brief piece in the inside cover and put it in the Swap Section. Then, if there's a book you fancy, take it home. Kay donated her favourite book "The Complete SAS Guide to Interrogation Techniques". I made that up. She actually donated the wonderful book "The Tibetan Book Of Living and Dying" by Sogyal Rinpoche, only because the last page is missing. Just joking. It was in pristine condition . I suggested selling it at a car boot sale instead but  then she gave me one of her famous looks and I shut up. Kay wrote in the cover about how good the book is and how she hoped that whomever took it would find …

Lights Out!

Just 4 weeks to go until this year's Earth Hour.
Here's the link to join in: Sign Up For Earth Hour.
We'll have friends staying, so a candlelit meal will definitely be on the cards...

What do you have planned?

Lamledra

The sun was shining yesterday again, so after a fairly busy week - we decided to get out for a long walk. We walked into Gorran Haven & took the coastal path back home...
Gorran Haven Harbour. This part of the coastal path takes you around the Lamledra pennisula, which heads towards Vault beach...
Gorran Haven.
It was chilly, but warm in the sun...
Black clouds started coming over & we thought it was going to rain, but it stayed dry!
First sign of Spring...
Dodman Point ahead & the blue skies were back...
We made the most of the sunshine & stopped to eat...
With a lovely view of the beach...
Lamledra House. We used to clean it, but quit after a year - because we only had 3 hours & felt we just couldn't get everything done - it sleeps 20! The owners are lovely though, but their budget is tight with constant maintenance.  They do have some interesting guests there...
It got to 5pm & we still had a long way to go, so we left the path & took the road...
Cornish herringbon…
