The Essence Of Tea

Image
It's coming to the end of the tourist season, so once the holidaymakers have left this weekend - life is set to get quieter... We've had a busy time again & not only with cleaning, but putting together a quote for a potential new client & doing an inventory for the huge house of another. Amongst it all - we've also made some time to see our girls, who now both live 30 miles away... So we visited  The Essence Of Tea  in Falmouth... A peaceful haven in the middle of town, selling teas from China & Taiwan. We loved it & will definitely go again!  We enjoyed some time together drinking... A large pot of Nantou green tea & smaller pot of  1992 Da Ye Sheng Puerh. We also had a large dish of veggie sushi.  (which we forgot to photograph, but was really delicious)! We also ate later near the harbour & watched the black & white yacht being cleaned & polished by a team of people... I've also had a blood test, which for the first time in 6 y

You, Me & Debris

Yesterday we spent another long day cleaning other peoples' homes... We didn't get in until after 7pm! With all the hassle this (or was it last?) week, I'm really wishing for an easier life. What would be really nice right now is a few days off to potter around the house, read one of the ever growing pile of books, do things in the garden, get on top of our business accounts, cook, sit & chat...  Though I should be careful, as the last time I complained about wanting to spend more time at home - I fell & sprained my ankle! So I'll just be content that we have money coming in, we have good health & we are happy! This Saturday, The Dolphins Fly are performing at The Eden Cafe - which led to the band being invited to an interview on  BBC Radio Cornwall .  Unfortunately, Sime & Bill couldn't make it, so Dave & Mart did a couple of acoustic tracks. We've just got a few days left to try & get as many folks as possible to come along on the nig

Last Night...

Image
It's always nice to get-together with all the kids...  It's also very rare! But last night we managed to all see the old man's band play... Which was a nice thing to do, though I have to admit - I really didn't like the pub! There were certainly a few characters around.  Being country bumpkins - a Friday night in a large town centre pub isn't really my idea of a good time & I just found myself feeling very uncomfortable in that environment, just so glad the kids were there too! There wasn't any trouble, but it felt like there could have been at any time! The band played well, but only the landlady of the pub seemed to really appreciate them. Such a shame for great musicians to play to a disinterested crowd, but that's the way it goes...  I suppose these experiences will only spur the guys on to get what they really want & take a step up to the next level - where they deserve to be!  Here's a video of them performing  California  from last ni

Stuffed & Broke In Polkerris

Image
It seems that we're making a regular habit of eating out... Although today was different, as it was kind of my birthday meal with the kidlets. The destination:  Sam's On The Beach  - A very nice, upmarket restaurant right on the beach in Polkerris. Unfortunately, the girls' boyfriends are always busy on Tuesdays - but it's the only day the 5 of us can get together... It's always great for all the kids to be with us. Sal lives 30 miles away & now works full-time, so we just meet up whenever we can... And as usual - there is a lot of silliness, even in nice restaurants! The view from our table. The pizzas were huge & one each was too much really... This is Sal's - Cheese & Red Onion. Sime, Hugo & I had a Veggie Pizza each... With a green salad. Rose had a Veggie Sandwich. It wasn't long before the laughter started... Silly conversations, misunderstandings... And laughing until we're all in tears! Lovely kids! Just outside the r

Lazy Muthas (& Fathers)

Image
We have begun one of our biggest spring jobs today, re-opening 5 flats ready for the holiday season. Our afternoon has been spent cleaning windows, hanging curtains & checking inventories. It usually takes us a couple of weeks to get them all prepared, so we'll be back there tomorrow.  We do work really hard & when not working - we are incredibly lazy...  Sometimes we think it would be so nice to have a housekeeper. Well more of a friend, who would happily care for us - prepare meals when we are working, clean the house, chivvy the kids along.  Maybe it would be more of a lodger that could live with us for free in return for their help.  Is there anyone out there? Occasionally, we feel guilty about not getting things done, but most of the time - we just think why should we make ourselves unhappy constantly doing, when it's more fun just being... We would rather lie in bed chatting & laughing for hours on end, than clean the house or wash the car. Those jobs will a

Day Out In Fal With Sal

Image
Today we visited our eldest in Falmouth, which we haven't done for a long time - as she normally comes to us. Rose was able to come along too, so a Fam 5 day out! The kids always have lots of catching up to do! We were on our way to the library & saw this funny sight! Then it was up to one of our favourite veggie cafes - Cafe Cinnamon  for breakfast... Full English veggie breakfast at it's best! Next, we visited  Falmouth Art Gallery .  Where we enjoyed looking at their Masters of Photography Exhibition. There are also some great permanent pieces... This old lady & cat are 2 of our favourites! Back on the street... Where we discovered that Cancer Research had at last found the answer! Then it was on to Sal's flat for some Mint & Chilli Tea... Some of Sal's lovely lemon & poppy seed cup cakes... And some  Raw Chocolate Pie So another lovely day with our kidlets!  Now we're worn out & ready for bed... See you soon Kay & Sime xx
