Home

We've been home for a couple of days now & started work again yesterday.
The weather has remained awful - drizzle & grey skies, but amazingly, we've had lots of energy. Our customers have been glad to see us, which is nice & tomorrow we'll meet up with local friends for a family quiz night in the village cricket club. We're surprisingly getting back into the swing of things... Sime's band are here jamming in our back room - practising for their gig next Friday & as usual the house is vibrating!

The view from our first job yesterday!

I'm really keen on starting some of the projects we'd vowed to do during the No Impact Week - preserving food, eating as locally as possible, using less energy, etc, etc. Haven't been able to buy yeast on our return for bread making, will have to look at making sour dough again, although previously - it's been a bit vinegary!

We have yet another job on tomorrow & we're getting lots of enquiries about our services (it's that time again). So it looks like we'll have yet another busy year, thank goodness we've taken some time out! We keep thinking about expanding & taking people on, but we're not sure whether we want that responsibility & what we offer now is a personal service, our customers know that they can rely on us. If we expand - we won't be able to keep an eye on everything. Saying that, we do have a couple of people that help us out in the Summer when we're really busy, folks that we know are reliable - which is fine for the holiday let changeovers. The work is physically tiring (we've done 2 full house cleans today - large houses), great work-outs though! As much as I hate cleaning, I do enjoy seeing the end result & the private cleans we do are so different to the holiday lets - we've got to know the customers we help & with our encouragement, they've been inspired to start looking after their homes, clear their clutter & seem so much happier - just could do with a nice couple to come & do same for us now!!!

Well, my back & legs are feeling like they're seizing up, so time to potter about before collapsing into bed...

Kay :)

  1. Hello I am Pattypan from Tarragonnthymeblogspot. I note that you are after yeast. If you go on to the Amazon website and type in yeast it will bring up all types including fresh in a big block for £5 or so. You can then freeze in realistic portions for your breadmaking. They also do different yeasts for wine making and brewing beer.

  3. Thanks Pattypan - will check out Amazon & Mel - probably not until October now, but we do have to visit our folks in the north of England soon & we might squeeze a few days away here & there...
