Garden View

Image
The view from our garden this morning... Low cloud over the sea... Our neighbours new glamping pods... Bleached sky... Portmellon. Our decking...  Looking forward to sitting here in the warmer weather! We are having a cat flap fitted on Monday...  Can't believe we've been here for nearly 4 weeks now and our boys will be so happy to be venturing out! We think they are very much at home now, so we are hoping they won't travel too far...  Bedtime snuggles with Fleaby... And a rare bedtime snuggle with Lupes! Bye for now, Kay and Sime xx

Year Of Adventure

Image
A bit late, but Happy New Year! :-) We had a lovely time with all our kidlets over Christmas, which has made quite a change - the first time in years that we have all managed to be under one roof during the holiday period!  We are so pleased that we could do this, as this was to be our last one at Meadowcroft...  Yes, not only are we buying our little French house (which will need lots of TLC before we move in), but we have decided to downsize to a small house overlooking the sea while we visit France and just enjoy ourselves! We only made the decision at the beginning of December, which meant we needed to get busy decluttering... Taking the opportunity to move from our big place in Boswinger to a small, very lovely, fully furnished one bedroom converted garage near to Mevagissey... This was the view from our bedroom early this morning. We were supposed to be managing the property as a holiday let for our friends, but after having a few days break here - we fel

Fleaby's Easy Listening Gems Part 1

Image
Flea, much to Sime's disappointment, never really embraced the music genre associated with his namesake & although he often gets into scrapes & scraps... He's really a big softy, especially where music's concerned.  Here's some of his favourite tunes: He hopes you enjoy the videos as much as he does!

Lupuschki's Jazz Archives Volume 1

Image
Lupe likes to lie next to the computer when there's jazz playing... " This is his very favourite tune.  It has to be played over & over again if ever he goes on a car journey...  It helps him to remain calm! If he can't get onto the computer desk...  The next best thing is the cabinet beside it, where he drifts away listening to some soothing tunes. Daddy sometimes gets a bit carried away & turns the volume up... Which just grates on his nerves! Have a good weekend everyone...  We're off to work now & have guests in later, so busy, busy! K&S xx

It's A Cat's Life

Image
We have very kindly been given 2 weeks of free Guardian newspapers - which is nice! We used to buy the Saturday edition, but haven't for a long time - so it's been quite a treat & kitties always love it when we have papers for them to lie on... Saturday night - Lupe loved helping Daddy... This morning.  Christmas cards piles are great for sitting on - just when Mummy wanted to sort them... And when the fire's in - cards need spreading out all over the table... They've hardly moved all day... Sleepy Fleaby... Lupe really doesn't like having his photo taken... So had to get his own back somehow... No prizes for guessing whose in charge in this house! Kay & Sime xx

Up North Kids

Hello! After a hectic week, we have arrived in Stoke... We are here with 2 of the 5 kidlets, Rose & Asa. Sal & Ryan couldn't get any time off & Hugo is with friends because he has his circus show on for the next week - he texted earlier to say the first performance went fine & although they made mistakes - the audience didn't notice! It should be nicely polished by the time we see the last show next Sunday... Just want to say thank you to Amy, who is looking after the kitties - meaning they've been able to stay at home (they hate catteries) & this makes us really happy! So we're now off to eat & tomorrow we shall be visting our folks... It's Sealed Pot Sunday & if you check out  Saving For Travel  - you'll be able to read how well everyone is doing, including us. It's not too late to join in... Hope you enjoy the music - We love Papa M, his records keep us company on most road trips! Kay & Sime

Happy Home

After a couple of cancellations - we finally have our first official guests arriving on Monday. But first, we have Asa's (Rose's boyfriend) parents staying on Saturday, so it will be good to know what they think... We are keeping our prices fairly low: £20 a night for one person & £35 for two, including breakfast & hope our guests will enjoy our informal approach. We're also offering 2 course evening meals, including a jug of our home brewed beer for £5 a head. It's taken us ages to get our act together & give the place a makeover, partly because we haven't really wanted to splash out on new things, so we've moved furniture around & bought a few second hand bits... We recently found some really good quality curtains in a charity shop, so the two windows in the guest room are now matching! They are a big pair of curtains, so one is enough for each window & eventually we'll stick some hooks up to tie them back... We bought this bureau

Refined Confinement

We haven't worked for a week... Since Sime's fall - we've been spending lots of time in front of the fire... And cuddling the kitties... It's been lovely to spend time with our furry friends...  Instead of dashing out whenever we've got some spare time. I was struggling with being serious & not getting close to Sime without him backing off & shouting "No"... But now, we've got into the swing of a very formal existence - not unlike a middle-aged couple in a Jane Austen novel!  So it's just a pat on the hand or head, instead of a hug. A bit of light conversation at meal times (without laughs of course) & a peck on the cheek on waking & going to sleep... I am no longer allowed to tell funny stories or sing silly songs & jumping out is strictly forbidden. So before we meet for tea & crumpets in the parlour, I'd just like to say... If my luck's in tonight I might be able to snuggle up to Mr Smith's left arm! Hop

We've Got The Blues

Image
We're hoping that tomorrow will run smoothly, as it's the BIG day for Sime & the band... But first we'll have several properties to clean, so the pressure is on! Today - we have worked for nearly 10 hours, yesterday was pretty much the same & it just seems that the crazy season has arrived early this year! It's been half term this week & everywhere has been packed... It seems that every journey has taken forever with all the extra vehicles around.  Our hamlet has been busy with folks staying at the camp site & hostel, lots of people stopping & looking into the house from morning until night. Families walking down to the beach early in the morning & teenagers coming up from the beach late at night. All of them making lots of noise & not giving any thought to the people whose lives they are disrupting. Even the kitties don't like the intrusion... Fleaby & Lupschki watch the road from a safe distance! There has been one consolation t
