Rewilding Our Life - Day 12

We managed a stroll again with Bebe today - just to what we call the first gate.
Neither of us felt like venturing out too far, after such a busy week...
Bebe wasn't happy about it though, she always gets restless at weekends & just wants to go out in the car... But in reality, as soon as we go out - she wants to come home, so we can never win!

Apart from spending 30 minutes outside, today's activity was about ancestors & creating a ritual to think about them & thank them...
This kind of thing isn't really our bag, but we do like candles & incense...

We burn Nag Champa incense pretty much all the time & patchouli in our little oil burner.

We don't need a reason to light candles...

Nice being at home today.

Rural Life

We live in a small hamlet of 14 households - all on one lane, but spread out & mainly detached, apart from the 3 barn conversions across from us. There have been a number of changes in the six years we have lived here, people moving in & out, houses renovated & extended, but for us - the worst thing is that the last few newcomers are city people. They have all spent thousands of pounds modernising their homes & turning them into fortresses. Fences & gates have been erected, security lights & alarms fitted...
I suppose most folks will think that they are being sensible, but it's changing the way our little place looks & feels & to me it seems that these modern extras will invite unwanted attention - it suggests there's something worth taking. What was once a simple, quaint little hamlet is fast becoming yet another exclusive part of rural Cornwall.  Only 3 of the 14 households are Cornish & they are all related, the rest (apart from us) are well …

Just A Quickie

We got back in the early hours of yesterday, worked & we're working again until Wednesday. When we'll have a day off to be volunteers at Hugo's home education group...
We had a very productive time in Stoke, got lots sorted again around Bebe & had great fun with her during a meal out... We also saw Grandad Gerry & Nana Footstep (Sime's Dad & Step-Mum), which is always lovely!
I had a tooth out - the tooth I had filled a couple of months ago...  Apparently, the filling had been put directly on to the nerve of the tooth, so no wonder I'd been suffering (my jaw has had a dull ache for a while & my tooth was very sensitive to cold drinks & food). The filling hadn't set underneath, so this dentist said he wasn't surprised that I'd had a metallic taste in my mouth. The guy was lovely, he was very patient with my stupid behaviour & Sime was with me throughout holding my trembling hand!
We had a bit of free time too - saw a film & on …
