The Best Time Of Year...

For a another trip down to the beach...

The blue skies tempted us out again today & although we haven't had any frost here - it has still been cold!

Lupschki watched us go while basking in the warmth of the sun in our living room window...


We joined the coastal path which is 10 minute's walk away...

The sky & sea just looked beautiful today...

The cottage on the beach.
 Now a holiday home owned by National Trust & it costs nearly £100 per night out of season & £300 a night in season!

An elderly brother & sister lived there before - they had lived there all their lives & the cottage was falling apart. 
They were tenants of NT & no work was done until they both had to left to go into care homes.
We're sure NT do good work, but they are certainly good at neglecting their tenants & they only pay their holiday cottage cleaners a little more than minimum wage.
(We were approached & turned them down)!

Who needs the South of France - when we've got this!

We sat, ate our breakfast, breathed in the sea air & warmed in the sun...

And Sime took some nice photos...




Just being there lifts our spirits...

Then it's time for the journey back...

We took the steep lane...

Next time - we'll take the field...

Up & up...

And up...

    OOh I could just imagine myself being there. Fab photos and what a glorious blue sky.
    I thought of you today, the heating was turned off, my hands were going numb and I could barely move my arms for layers of clothing. All I can say is "RESPECT" if you guys make it right through without turning yours on!
    ps I'm toasting in front of the fire now LOL

    How lovely very different to what it has been here in Peterborough hasn't got above 3 degrees all day, When I came home at 5.45 pm it was O degrees and I think it is well less than that now we have a very sharp frost here again tonight and they have already gritted. Sorry I have the heating on as the Raynauds has been playing up big time and my goosebumps have got goosebumps. My tabby Squeak is camped on my leg as I am typing this trying to stop me typing and nicking cheeslet biscuits to boot. Hope you enjoy your free out of season time it looks wonderful.

    Thanks, Kath, Karin & Pattypan.

    We did crack the other night & put the heating on for 3 hours... And a couple of days ago, Sime found my Nan's gas heater with gas still in the bottle, so we put it on now & again in the dining room. We do have the open fire, which is wonderful! Going to bed is difficult at the moment, as is showering...

    Pattypan - it sounds very cold your way! Sorry to hear about your Raynaud's, have you got plenty of layers on? Sime swears by ginger in his socks (he's always got cold feet)!

Some of you know about my fight with Graves Disease, an auto immune system disorder, which causes an overactive thyroid. Since I was diagnosed 7 years ago, I have made it my business to know everything I possibly could about the condition & this has probably saved my life. Our Neighbours

The ladies next door have been giving birth in the field. Their babies are like any other babies - they sleep, they feed, they follow their mums everywhere, they run around, then fall asleep again.  These little beauties are completely unaware of their fate... But we know... And this is one thing which makes living here difficult. How can people eat other beings without feeling terrible?     It just doesn't make sense.
