Getting Back To basics

We've had another very busy week, but we are very happy to be escaping for a few days.

We decided that as it's our Silver Wedding Anniversary on Monday, we should do something a bit different...
So we're going to be staying in a yurt on Bodmin Moor!

It's going to be wonderful...
No computer.
No phone.
No work.

Just time to chill out, enjoy some moorland walks, eat, drink, be merry & have lots of fun!!!

See you when we get back.

Congrats on 25 years.
LOVE the yurt idea! (life got in our way to celebrate our 25th so we have just booked for our 26th - we are staying in a light house) so i was way excited for you re the yurt. Great minds think alike we'd much rather stay alternative than in a posh motel.
ENJOY enjoy Enjoy!

Hope you have a lovely time in the yurt and Happy Anniversary for Monday. 25 years is worth celebrating. It's our 28th tomorrow - we had a bit of a party 3 years ago.

Conrgatulations and heres to many more years together. Kay you look so pretty, but I would not have recognised Sime with all that dark hair LOL
Enjoy your break, you deserve it!

Well done you two. I look forward to hearing about living in a yurt. It's on my bucket list.
Many Congratulation on your Silver Wedding. It's our 28th on the 15th. I'd love to stay in a yurt but OH is not so keen. On our 27th we went to Guernesey and met a sweet couple who were celebrating their 60th and were reliving their honeymoom to Guernesey.

Thanks Leanne - we would love to stay in a lighthouse!

We loved the yurt so much - we are seriously thinking about buying one to live in (probably when Hugo's left us)!

Kay :)
Thanks Catherine - looks like you had a good time too... We didn't see any tigers, but we did make lots of kitty friends!

Kay :)
Thank you guys - we had a brilliant time!

Our first proper holiday in years without any kidlets... Strange but very nice!

Kay :)
Thanks Susan - the yurt was fantastic & we loved the campsite too!

Kay :)
Thanks Jane - the first day was drizzly & foggy, but then it was glorious sunshine for the rest of the week!
We'd love to be snowed in... Preferably in a log cabin with a roaring fire!!!

Kay :)
Thanks Karin - we had a great time & happy 28th to you! It was suggested that we have a 'do' - but neither of us are really party people. We were more or less forced into a reception 2 weeks after our wedding!

Kay :)
Thanks Kath - We had to get a special licence because we married within 2 weeks of deciding to do it, so I just wore the frock my mum bought for my 21st & Sime wore his 'Miami Vice' gig gear! Sime's hair got very long after that... Until he became a slap head...

Kay :)
Thanks Molly - It was brilliant & we loved the yurt!

Kay :)
Thanks Gai - The yurt was fantastic, but I have to say - our friends have two on their land & they are far more luxurious!

We shall be posting photos very soon.

Kay :)
Thanks Teresa - congratulations to you too for Saturday.

Are you doing anything nice?

Our yurt was like glamping, a step up from being in a tent - there are some fab alternative holiday ideas. Sime fancies staying on a train carriage next...

Kay :)

Diet And Drugs

Some of you know about my fight with Graves Disease, an auto immune system disorder, which causes an overactive thyroid. Since I was diagnosed 7 years ago, I have made it my business to know everything I possibly could about the condition & this has probably saved my life. I have blood tests on a regular basis & in November last year, I was told that my T4 levels are normal & again in January the same.  My thyroid stimulating hormone was finally starting to work too, after 7 years of lying dormant, so I suggested I came off the anti thyroid drug & my GP's response was to continue for a while longer. A month ago, I rang my GP & suggested again that I come off the drug or at least halve it, as I was feeling so well  & was concerned about the drug pushing me into being under active. Again, she said to be patient & they would send for me when it's time for a blood test. I don't normally do as I'm told, but decided to stick with it a b

Our Neighbours

The ladies next door have been giving birth in the field. Their babies are like any other babies - they sleep, they feed, they follow their mums everywhere, they run around, then fall asleep again.  These little beauties are completely unaware of their fate... But we know... And this is one thing which makes living here difficult. How can people eat other beings without feeling terrible?     It just doesn't make sense. Both the posters are from the  Cornwall Vegans  website. If you are in Cornwall or will be on Saturday 22nd April - do support this event! Perhaps you have been considering veganism - this  Vegan Starter Kit  will help you to get started and if you have any questions, need help or ideas for recipes - just ask, we are always happy to talk to folks who want to change their diet for the better. Nettles

Our garden yesterday. Tall Nettles TALL nettles cover up, as they have done These many springs, the rusty harrow, the plough Long worn out, and the roller made of stone: Only the elm butt tops the nettles now. This corner of the farmyard I like most: As well as any bloom upon a flower I like the dust on the nettles, never lost Except to prove the sweetness of a shower. ~ Edward Thomas ~ Every time we venture out to pick nettles, Sime always goes on about this poem! Anyway, thought I'd share with you the article I've written for next month's Parish Magazine... Our hedgerows are coming alive with food aplenty, but hardly anyone really notices the nettles that surround us, they grow quietly while using their juices to produce a medicine that can bring health. Anaemia, arthritis, rickets, tuberculosis, respiratory diseases, colds, catarrh and lymphatic problems can all benefit from this wonderful wild and free super food. Nettles are rich in ca
