Disco In Kernow

Our lovely friend, Simon turned 50 recently & had a great party in Chyan's apple barn at the weekend.

Simon in his fabulous outfit!

We first met Simon, his wife Jane & their eldest daughter, 10 years ago at Newquay Zoo on a home education trip.
Over the years our families have become really good friends, though we don't see each other as often as we'd like these days - when we do get-together it's always nice & lots of fun!
They are wonderful people & have been there for us on so many occasions (even though they live over 40 miles away). Coming over & cooking meals, helping us with nan when she was alive, picking the kids up or dropping them off, taking care of Hugo while we go away, giving us hugs when we've needed them & much much more.

So it was lovely to catch up again this weekend.

The kidlets love S, J & their girls too & they all really got into the spirit of things...

Sal as Velma from Scooby Doo...

Ryan as Shaggy...

Rose as Daphne...

And Asa as a dark haired Fred.

Hugo went for a more Beatnik look...

My look was a bit predictable really...

As was Sime's - He was excited to find his old round glasses...
Seen here with Jane, who looked gorgeously Audrey Hepburn like in her false eyelashes!

The night was great fun!

A corner of the room was set out like a 70s sitting room...
Complete with 3 ducks & an old fashioned standard lamp on the wall!
Helen's hat is an original!

Jane & I (I'm behind the girl with the hood) pretty much danced all night until at least 4am...
Can't remember the last time I did that, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!
It was a very cold night, so dancing was a good way of keeping warm, then those of us hardcore enough - crashed out in the barn after.
We finally got our heads down at about 5.30am... To be woken at 9am by a team of clearer uppers!

Brekkie was being provided by Truly Crumptious. Not just crumpets, but wonderful hangover cures of great fry-ups - we had a vegan version, which really hit the spot!

The Birthday Boy in his civvies.

In the brekkie queue - feeling a little delicate!

We are still tired today, even though we were in bed at 8.30pm last night.

Think we're getting old...

Hope you've all had a good weekend too!

Kay :)

  1. Ooh I love fancy dress.I think that people seem WAY more relaxed when in fancy dress, and enjoy themselves more...unless they drink more alcohol in disguise?!

  3. What a fabulous night out! My friend had a 70s fancy dress party for her 40th - J wore a long dark wig- it was reminiscent of how his hair was when I met him!
